Overview

During my walks I take various types of photos;

- I have a series of set positions for one lot where I am trying to chronicle the changes to the beach over time;
- I am doing another set of closeup leaf photos showing different shapes & types of leaves in various stages of decay or degradation;
- another set of closeup photos depicting as many different colours of beach rocks as catch my eye as I walk;
- still another set of closeup photos of any feathers I come across;
- closeup photos of any shells;
- as well as closeup photos of various seaweeds.
- Other photos include any wildlife I encounter;
- a set of photos trying to capture as many different wave formations as possible, with the odd surfer;
- wide angle shots showing seascapes & any dramatic cloud formations;
- a series of panorama shots using a borrowed Sony panorama camera;
- as many different footprints as I can find;
- & of course the obligatory sunrise which always seems to be spectacular over the ocean.

Basically I'll take photos of anything & everything.

With all of these categories, as you can imagine, I end up taking a lot of photos; the most I have taken so far was 699 on the 4th February. This was a spectacular sunrise coupled with the aftermath of a vicious storm which took about 3 metres of sand dune, felled many trees & had particularly large waves. The least no so far was 47 on the 15th April, due to it pouring rain & very low light conditions.

Included on the following pages will be my batches of photos. The ones of Sawtell Beach are from the same position each morning, the middle landing on the access staircase to the beach from Sawtell Headland, looking almost due north. This is the one jutting out to the left in the photo below.

The photo includes the boat ramp & the little bay where boats are launched from the beach. Around the corner to the left of the point is Sawtell Main Beach where the Surf Life Saving Club House is; this cannot be seen. In the mid distance is Boambee Headland while in the background can be seen Mutton Bird Island & the Coffs Harbour Headland.

I chose this photo as it is from a fixed point each time, most other photos that show the main beach all vary in position due to tide & storm activity & therefore are difficult to have a point of reference for comparison.

I usually average around 300 per day & yes that means as of today (21-04-2012) I have taken just over 32,900 since 1st January this year. (Just as well they are all digital). By the way I don't intend to post them all on my blog site so if you wish to see any different ones to what I post just request it in a comment & I will try to accommodate.

Edit - added 12th August 2012.
The number taken to date has grown to 52,000.

Will try and add some of the waves & leaf pictures this month if at all possible.

Edit - added 4th November 2012.
The number taken has grown to 69,000.

Have not been able to add the wave or leaf photos, a little bit busy with work & grand daughters problem.

Will probably get on to it this month all being normal.
