1st Anniversary

Most of this is contained in various edits throughout other posts & pages, but it was suggested I draw it all together for better clarity & ease of access.

Well the year is up, I managed to get to the beach on 318 days, took 75,495 photos, walked about 2226km along the beach sand, saw some very dramatic sky & sunrise moments, watched some dramatic changes to the beach due to mother nature & came to appreciate that "what goes around, comes around". You will understand this if you look at the 1st photo from new years day 2012 & compare it to the one taken on 31st December 2012. I actually believe there is more sand at the end of the year than at the beginning.

Even after the devastating storms & erosion that occurred this year the photos are almost identical with respect to sand coverage. The dunes however are a different story, they have retreated about 3-5M along the main beach & about 10M on the point.

The "Xspurts" reckon that if you repeat something daily 21 times it will become a habit; I guess that makes my walking now an "ingrained conditioned reflex response", so will obviously have to keep it up, only difference now is I will not take as many photos. Will try to concentrate on more "artistic" & "quality" photos & let my imagination take over.

Will still take the bare backbone ones to record the changes, just not as prolific.

The big dramatic incident in July, (my & the cameras unscheduled swim), saw me acquire my new camera. I am still exploring all of its attributes & variables & coming to grips with the best settings for all the different situations.

I have started going back through my old 35mm film gear & found my Cokin filter system which I used "in the good old days".  Due to the adaptability of this system all I needed was an adapter for my filter size & I could use the whole system on my digital camera.

So I promptly bought one on ebay for $1-59, free postage from China; (OK I know its not good but I couldn't find one here in Aus.); so hopefully in the near future I should be able to see how the old & new technology interact.

Well that's it for the anniversary reflections, all the best for the coming year, & like they say at the entrance to Fraser Island; "Take nothing but photos; leave nothing but footprints".
